Hokato Sema, an Indian athlete who survived a landmine blast, won a bronze medal in the men’s F57 shot put event at the Paris Paralympics. He achieved his career-best throw of 14.65 meters on Friday.
Performance Details
The 40-year-old from Dimapur started with a throw of 13.88 meters but improved on his second attempt to surpass 14 meters. His best throw was 14.40 meters, surpassing his previous personal best of 14.49 meters. Sema’s fourth attempt was his best, securing him the bronze medal.

Another Indian athlete, Rana Soman, finished in fifth place with a throw of 14.07 meters.
