Injured Ebadot Travels with T20 Squad for Rehab

Injured pace bowler Ebadot Hossain has traveled to India with the Bangladesh T20 squad from Dhaka on Tuesday, October 1. This is in preparation for the upcoming three-match series starting on October 6.

Ebadot suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during the ODI series against Afghanistan in July 2023. He underwent surgery for this injury, which has kept him off the field since then.

Team Management’s Decision

Shahriar Nafees, in charge of cricket operations for the Bangladesh Cricket Board, explained that Ebadot is not going to India to play in the series but to continue his rehabilitation under the close supervision of the team management.

Ebadot is traveling with the team to continue his rehab program in India,” Shahriar said. “The Tigers Program is currently on break, and players have joined their First-class teams. Ebadot will be assessed by our physio Bayzid Bhai and trainer Nathan Kelly during this time.

He won’t be playing; he’s going there to further his rehab as requested by the national team. The bowling coach and other staff want to monitor his progress closely,” he added.

Upcoming T20 Series

Bangladesh is set to play three T20 matches in India: the first in Gwalior on October 6, followed by matches in Delhi on October 9 and Hyderabad on October 12.

Team’s Confidence

Pace bowler Shoriful Islam expressed optimism about the team’s chances in the series, despite missing key players like Shakib Al Hasan, who has retired.

We have been practicing for a long time, and we will see how it goes,” Shoriful told reporters before leaving Dhaka on Tuesday. “I believe the team is strong, and if we perform well, we can achieve good results.

Pace bowler Tanzim Shakib agreed, stating that the team needs to work together to fill the gap left by Shakib’s retirement.

We need to play as a unit to make up for his absence,” he said.
