Naveen-ul-Haq, a bowler for the LSG encouraged his team to move on from their big loss against the Kolkata Knight Riders KKR in an IPL 2024 match at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday. LSG lost by 98 runs.
“Bad days happen to everyone. We need to focus on the next game instead of dwelling on this one. We can’t change what happened, so we should concentrate on areas where we can improve and get ready for the next match,” Naveen said at the press conference after the game.
The LSG bowlers had a tough day, allowing KKR to score over 200 runs, the first time in an IPL match at Ekana Stadium.
Naveen, who was LSG’s top bowler with figures of 3/49 in four overs, acknowledged that the pitch favored the batsmen and admitted that his team’s batting performance was disappointing.
“In the games we’ve played here, this was the best pitch for batting. It was good for batting, and KKR bowled well while we didn’t perform as we did in previous matches,” the Afghan bowler said.
KKR’s bowler Harshit Rana, returning from a one-match ban, led their bowling attack with three wickets.
“We understood the pitch well and knew what lengths to bowl, which helped us win,” Harshit commented after the match.
He also expressed full confidence in his senior teammate Mitchell Starc, despite Starc’s struggles in the IPL this season.
“We trust Starc completely. He has won matches for us before, and his recent performance doesn’t affect our belief in him,” Harshit added.
