Kumar Sangakkara Speaks Out About Sanju Samson’s Dismissal, Says It’s Up to…

After losing to Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 match, Rajasthan Royals’ cricket director, Kumar Sangakkara, felt his team could have won, despite the dramatic dismissal of their captain, Sanju Samson. Samson played an amazing inning, scoring 86 runs off 46 balls with eight fours and six sixes. Unfortunately, he got out when Shai Hope caught a tough catch just before the boundary ropes.

Sangakkara acknowledged it was a tough call for the umpire and stressed the importance of accepting their decision. He admitted that regardless of Samson’s dismissal, Rajasthan should’ve won the game. He credited Delhi’s smart bowling towards the end of the match.

Later, Samson was fined for showing dissent at the umpire’s decision. Sangakkara emphasized the need for players to respect umpires’ decisions, even if they disagree.

Pravin Amre, the DC assistant coach, praised Hope’s athletic catch, calling it a crucial moment in the game. He highlighted the importance of umpires’ decisions and complimented Hope’s skills.

Samson has been in excellent form throughout the IPL, scoring 471 runs in 11 matches and ranking third in the Orange Cap race. Sangakkara praised Samson’s improved consistency and mindset this season, emphasizing his exceptional talent against both pace and spin.

Sangakkara also spoke highly of Samson’s qualities as a person, noting his humility and dedication to the team. He expressed confidence in Samson’s potential contribution to the Indian team in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Regarding the debate on who should be India’s main wicketkeeper-batsman, Sangakkara remained neutral, leaving the decision to the team management. He acknowledged Samson’s strong performance, hoping for his success in the World Cup.
