Growing Popularity and Expectations
“The Super Smash continues to grow in popularity, and it’s thrilling to see it remain accessible to fans all over New Zealand,” said NZC CEO Scott Weenink. “It’s a great platform to showcase our sport to both new and existing fans and highlight our domestic teams and rising stars.“
Weenink added that the competition is quickly becoming New Zealand’s favorite summer domestic tournament, with over 1.3 million viewers tuning in last year. He hopes to see it reach even greater heights this season.
Concurrent Series
The Super Smash will run alongside New Zealand men’s white-ball series against Sri Lanka, featuring T20Is and ODIs, scheduled to run until January 11. New Zealand’s women players are expected to participate in the entire Super Smash tournament.
