Neeraj Chopra, who won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics, is among the top six javelin throwers who qualified automatically. The others are Anderson Peters, Julian Webber, Jakub Vadlejch, Andrian Mardare, and Roderick Genki Dean.
With 15 points, Chopra is tied for third place in the Diamond League standings with Julian Webber. Anderson Peters leads with 21 points. Jakub Vadlejch is in second place with 16 points.
Recent Performance
In the Lausanne leg of the Diamond League, Chopra threw 89.49 meters, just slightly better than his previous best of 89.45 meters from the Paris Olympics. He finished second behind Anderson Peters, who threw 90.61 meters.
Future Plans
After the Paris Olympics, Chopra mentioned needing surgery for a recurring adductor muscle issue. He has not returned to India and is focusing on his fitness. Chopra plans to compete in a few more events this season, possibly including the Diamond League final in Brussels. His main goal is to fully recover and improve his performance for the next year.
