Opening the innings, Sharma took his time to reach fifty in 72 balls. Once settled, he punished the Sri Lankan bowlers, reaching his century in 100 balls. His next 164 runs came off just 73 balls, including 33 fours and 9 sixes. This was only the fourth-ever double century in ODI cricket.

India posted a huge score of 404/5, largely thanks to Sharma’s extraordinary innings. Sri Lanka could only manage 251 in response, giving India a convincing 153-run win.

Unbeaten 208 vs Sri Lanka (2017)

On December 13, 2017, in Mohali, Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 208 against Sri Lanka. This was his third double century in ODIs, a feat no other player has achieved.

As captain of the Indian team in this match, Sharma led by example. After a steady start, he accelerated as the innings progressed. He reached his century in 115 balls and then went on a scoring spree, adding another 108 runs in just 36 balls, hitting 13 fours and 12 sixes.

India finished at 392/4, and Sri Lanka could only score 251/8, giving India another dominant win.
