India Women made history by scoring 603 runs with six wickets lost against South Africa Women in the ongoing

India’s women’s cricket team made history by scoring the highest total ever in a Women’s Test match. They achieved this against South Africa in Chennai on June 29, 2024.

Openers Smriti Mandhana (149) and Shafali Verma (205) gave a strong start, adding 292 runs for the first wicket.Jemimah Rodrigues (55), Harmanpreet Kaur (69), and Richa Ghosh (86) each scored over fifty runs, helping the team reach a total of 603 for six wickets before ending their innings.

Now, it will be interesting to see if the home team can defeat the visitors after setting such a huge score on a good batting pitch.

South Africa Women played a difficult match against Australia Women earlier this year. In a Test match in Perth, they were thoroughly defeated by the hosts.

South Africa scored only 76 runs in their first innings, and their bowlers struggled on the field. Although England Women scored a lot, Australia Women batted with confidence. Annabel Sutherland scored the most with 210 runs, and she was supported by Alyssa Healy (99), Ashleigh Gardner (65), and Kim Garth (49).

In their second innings, South Africa Women were all out for 215, resulting in a loss by an innings and 284 runs.

3. Australia Women – 569/6d against England Women in 1998

In a high-scoring Test match between Australia Women and England Women in Guildford in 1998, Australia Women made a huge score of 569 after England Women were bowled out for 414 in their first innings.

Even though England Women scored a lot, Australia Women batted with confidence.. Joanne Broadbent scored a careful double century (200), and Mel Jones added 131 runs. Together, they put on a partnership of 220 runs for the fourth wicket.

Australia Women declared their innings at 569 for six wickets.

The match ended in a draw.

England Women batted first and made a huge total of 414. New Zealand Women took advantage of the flat pitch and batted for 215 overs, scoring 517 runs for eight wickets before the match ended in a draw.

Kirsty Bond scored 204 runs, the most for the White Ferns, with strong support from Shelley Fruin (80) and Kelly Brown (50), helping their team achieve their highest-ever total in Women’s Test cricket.
