In reply, Bangladesh, led by Rahim’s 191, made 565/10, gaining a 117-run lead. Rahim’s score is the third-highest by a Bangladeshi in an away Test.

In their first innings, Pakistan scored 448 runs for 6 wickets before ending their innings. When Bangladesh batted, they began well, thanks to a great century by Mushfiqur Rahim. Rahim was close to getting his second double century in Test cricket but was out for 191 runs off 341 balls. Bangladesh ended their innings with a total of 565 runs, largely because of Rahim’s impressive performance.

In the same game where Mohammad Ashraful made 190 runs, the Sri Lankan team scored 570/4 in their first innings before they declared. Ashraful played a key role for Bangladesh, but it was Mushfiqur Rahim’s 200 runs off 437 balls that helped Bangladesh get close, trailing by just 68 runs. Nasir Hossain also scored a century in this match.

In their second innings, Sri Lanka scored 335/4 before declaring again. Bangladesh managed to score 70/1 in their final innings, and the match ended in a draw.

1. Shakib Al Hasan’s 217 in the 1st Test vs New Zealand at Wellington (2017)

Bangladesh’s top cricket star, Shakib Al Hasan, played an outstanding innings in the 1st Test of their 2017 tour to New Zealand in Wellington. He scored 217 runs from 276 balls, helping Bangladesh reach 595/8 before declaring their innings.

In response, Tom Latham scored a superb 177 off 329 balls, leading New Zealand to 539 runs before they were all out, falling short by 56 runs of Bangladesh’s total. In their second innings, Bangladesh collapsed and was dismissed for just 160 runs. This meant New Zealand needed 217 runs to win. Thanks to Kane Williamson’s excellent 104 off 90 balls, New Zealand won the match by seven wickets.

Even though Bangladesh lost the match, Shakib’s 217 remains the highest score by a Bangladeshi batsman in away Tests and is considered one of the greatest Test innings ever played.
