Getting wickets in the first over of a T20 cricket match is really hard because usually batters are in control. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), where teams have really good batters, it’s even more impressive. But in the 2023 IPL, some bowlers managed to do it and caught everyone’s attention. Their teams won a few matches because of their great starts. Most of these bowlers are successful in international cricket too, and it seems like they used their experience to help their IPL teams win.

5. AKASH SINGH: 2 WICKETS
Akash Singh played cricket for the Yellow Army team. He did okay in some matches but not so good in others. Sometimes, he didn’t play because he didn’t take enough wickets. But in some games, he did really well with the new ball. He helped the CSK team win against RCB and KKR by taking important wickets like Virat Kohli and Sunil Narine. This helped the team a lot.
4. MOHAMMED SHAMI: 3 WICKETS
In the 2023 IPL season, Mohammed Shami did really well. He was the best bowler for the Gujarat Titans team. He took 26 wickets in 15 matches and didn’t give away many runs. His best game was against the Delhi Capitals where he took 4 wickets for just 11 runs. He also played an important role in helping Gujarat win against the Punjab Kings team. Shami showed he’s a strong player by getting key players out early in matches. This made him one of the best players in the IPL in 2023.
3. MOHAMMED SIRAJ: 5 WICKETS
In the 2023 season, Mohammed Siraj was the best bowler for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team. He got 19 players out in 14 games, and he did it with an average of 7.50 runs per over. Something impressive about him is that he got five players out in his first set of overs. Even though the team didn’t always win, Siraj showed his talent in important matches against Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings by getting key players out. Some of the big players he dismissed were Kyle Mayers, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal. This made him the top wicket-taker for RCB.
2. BHUVNESHWAR KUMAR: 5 WICKETS
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has won the Purple Cap twice in the IPL, didn’t play his best this time. But he still did great for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He took 16 wickets in 14 matches and had a good economy rate of 8.33. He was their top bowler and helped the team a lot.Kumar played a big part in SRH’s first win against Punjab Kings and got important wickets in other wins against Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals too.
1.TRENT BOULT: 7 WICKETS
During the 2023 IPL season, Trent Boult was the best bowler for the Rajasthan Royals. He took 13 wickets in 10 matches and didn’t let many runs be scored against his bowling. He helped his team win matches, especially against Sunrisers Hyderabad where he got important wickets early in the game. Throughout the season, he consistently got key players out like Prithvi Shaw, Manish Pandey, Wriddhiman Saha, and Virat Kohli, which helped his team win matches. Boult played a big role in the team’s success.
