5. Greg Stewart – Kilmarnock to Mohun Bagan SG
Greg Stewart has a track record of winning the League Shield every full ISL season he has played. This is a promising sign for Mohun Bagan, who have brought him in to replace Hugo Boumous. Although Stewart’s return to Kilmarnock in Scotland didn’t go well, he is known for his ability to break through defenses with solo runs, precise passes, or long-range shots. Since joining the ISL in 2021-22, Stewart has contributed to more goals than any other player, with 42 total (21 goals and 21 assists). He will join a strong Bagan attack alongside Dimi Petratos, Jason Cummings, and Jamie MacLaren. The only concern is that Stewart and Petratos might compete for similar roles, which could limit their impact.

4. Jorge Pereyra Diaz – Mumbai City FC to Bengaluru FC
Bengaluru FC last had a forward who scored over 10 goals in the ISL back in the 2017-18 season, leading them to league and Super Cup victories. Jorge Pereyra Diaz has scored at least 10 goals in each of his last two seasons, making him the top scorer with 29 goals since 2021-22. He has previously helped his teams win significant titles, and Bengaluru FC hopes he will bring that winning touch. Diaz is a forward who can lead a team to success, and his link-up play with Alberto Noguera should be effective. If provided good service, Diaz’s strong goal-scoring ability could make Bengaluru a serious contender again.
3. Jon Toral – OFI Crete to Mumbai City FC
Jon Toral’s move to Mumbai City FC may surprise Arsenal fans who remember his potential from his youth days. Now 29, Toral has played across Spain, Scotland, and England, bringing a mix of technical skill and physical presence. With new teammates Brandon Fernandez and Jeremy Manzorro, Toral might be paired with Yoell van Nieff in midfield. His passing skills could benefit forwards like Vikram Partap Singh and Lallianzuala Chhangte. If Toral lives up to expectations, Mumbai City could be a top team this season.
2. Noah Sadaoui – FC Goa to Kerala Blasters
Noah Sadaoui, named the best player by several managers last season, has moved from Goa to Kerala Blasters. The Moroccan forward/winger caused trouble for defenders with his skillful play, setting a league record with 165 touches in the opposition box. Although he sometimes struggles when tightly marked, his talent is undeniable. With Adrian Luna joining him, Sadaoui could be a key player for the Blasters, possibly scoring multiple goals if he stays on form.
1. Hugo Boumous – Mohun Bagan SG to Odisha FC
Hugo Boumous is a key player when paired with coach Sergio Lobera, with whom he won titles at Goa and Mumbai. Despite a less impactful season at Mohun Bagan, Boumous is reuniting with Lobera at Odisha FC, along with former teammate Ahmed Jahouh. This combination was instrumental in past successes. Boumous’ performance might improve with this familiar setup, potentially leading to a successful season for Odisha with many goals.
